Juvéderm®

The word juvederm refers to the non surgical physician administered treatment. It requires no allergy skin test and minimal recovery time. Juvederm is manufactured by Allergan, who are the makers of BOTOX© Cosmetic. Wrinkles on the lower face are best treated by use of juvederm. Juvederm fills the wrinkles lines with a smooth gel which is made with hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic refers to a naturally occurring substance in the skin that helps to add volume and also helps in hydration. When one require to restore his or her skin’s volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds he or she should visit the dermatologist for injection of juvederm. Hyaluronic acid has been used for more than 20 years to provide aesthetic treatment and it has also been used for injection into arthritic joints to help in the movement as well as for repair of wounds and for eye surgery.

Since juvederm is a non surgical treatment, the physician administers treatment under the skin by use of a fine needle to fill the soft tissue of the dermis. The dense inner layer of the skin is the skin beneath the epidermis. This will help in adding volume and diminishing wrinkles and folds. Juvederm® comes in two formulations which are juvederm ultra and juvederm ultra plus. Juvederm ultra plus is used to correct deeper folds and the deformities since it is a more firm product. At first, the doctor evaluates the depth of the wrinkles and folds on your face. This is prior to treatment to determine which product would best provide the best desired results. Since juvederm® is a simple non surgical treatment, there is minimal down time one should make an appointment to the Lacer center for treatment and get back to your life. Before you go for the treatment, you should avoid any medications that can in any case increase bleeding. Such medications include: non steroidal anti inflammatories and aspirin. When you go for treatment, the physician will ask you about your medical history to determine if you are appropriate to be treated. Patients who have either severe allergies marked by a history of anaphylaxis of presence of multiple severe allergies or patients who have a history of allergies to lidocaine should not in any way use this product.

The safety of treatment of other areas rather than facial wrinkles and folds has not been established. In to avoid unsatisfactory results and complications, there are some important treatment considerations which must be discussed by you and the physician before being treated. this considerations include: inform your physician before treatment whether you are using substances that can prolong bleeding such as ibuprofen or aspirin, there is a possible risk of an inflammatory reaction at the treatment site if laser treatment, chemical peeling or any other procedure which is based on active dermal response is not considered before treatment, there may be increased risk of infection to patients who want to decrease their bodies immune response by use of injectable gel. The safety of using the product during pregnancy has not yet been established. The safety of patients with excessive scarring has not yet been established.
